Checking a photo import against the page
After a photo becomes a score, a short review sits above it. What to check first, how to fix the key, and why DomiSol asks before you leave.

When a photo or a PDF becomes a score, a short review sits above it. It names the two things most worth checking against your page, and it stays until you answer it.
What the review shows
The review leads with the key, and what the key was read from:
- Key D, read from “1=D” on the page: the page printed it (1=D, Doh is F, Key of G).
- Key G, read from the key signature: a staff page, read from its sharps or flats.
- Key C, guessed from the notes: the page didn’t say: nothing on the page gave the key, so check this one first.
Under it is First bar to check, the first bar the reading was unsure of (a bar that came out a beat short or long, for example). Click it and the cursor goes to that bar. Go to 1st of 3, or the N key, walks through the rest, and 3 details lists them.
Check the key first
The key matters more than any single note. In solfa and jianpu every note is written relative to the key, so a wrong key moves every syllable or number on the page while the notes still look perfectly plausible.
- Look at the top of your page: does it say the same key?
- Press Hear it. A wrong key is easier to hear than to see.
- Compare shows the photo beside the score, for as long as DomiSol keeps it (seven days).
To change it, open Key of D in the review. A key listed under Also possible is one the notes themselves point to: choosing it writes the notes again in that key, so they sound the same. Any other key keeps the notes as they are and moves the pitch, which is the fix when the page’s 1=G was read as 1=C.
Answer the review
- Looks right, once the key and the first line match your page.
- Get the PDF downloads the sheet, and counts as Looks right.
- Discard is for an import that is not worth correcting. It asks first, then deletes the score from your library. That cannot be undone, and the credits the scan used are not returned. Import the page again if you want another try.
- The × closes the review without changing the score.
If you leave before answering
Leaving the editor with the review still open (for My Scores, the dashboard, or Back) asks once: Does this match your page? Check the key and the first line.
- Looks right answers the review and takes you where you were going.
- Fix the key keeps you on the score and opens the key chooser.
- Not now takes you where you were going, and leaves the review open.
It asks once for each score in a browser tab. If you close the tab or reload the page, your browser may ask first in its own words (“Leave site?”); stay, and DomiSol asks its question.
Until the review is answered, the score shows Not checked yet beside its title in My Scores and on the dashboard, so you can find it again.
After seven days an unanswered review closes by itself. The copy of your page kept for comparing is deleted then, and the score stays as it is.
